Irish Soda Bread

4 c.
Sifted flour
1/4 c.
Sugar
1 tsp.
Salt
1 1/2 tsp. 
Baking powder
2 Tbsp.
Caraway seeds
1/4 c.
Margarine
2 c.
Dark seedless raisins
1
Egg
1 tsp.
Baking soda
1 1/2 c.
Buttermilk

Preparation Procedures:

1. Sift together four ingredients.

2. Stir in caraway seeds and raisins.

3. Beat together buttermilk, egg and baking soda.

4. Stir into flour mixture, then turn out onto lightly floured board.

5.
Knead until smooth, then place dough into greased 1 1/2 qt. round casserole dish. Cut a cross on top 1/2 inch deep.

Oven Temperature:  375 degrees

Baking Time:  50 minutes. Brush top with milk. Cool 10 minutes.
