Chocolate Macaroons

                                                             
Quantities               Ingredients
2                          
Large egg whites, at room temperature
1/2 c.
Sugar
  
Pinch of salt
1 1/2 oz.  
Bittersweet chocolate, melted
2 1/2 c.   
Shredded coconut

Preparation Procedures:

1. Preheat oven to 325 degrees. In bowl, mix egg whites, sugar, and salt. Beat until stiff peaks form, about 5 minutes. 

2. Fold in coconut to mixture. 

3. Drop, by spoonful, onto parchment paper on baking sheet, 1 1/2 inches apart. 

4. Bake for 20 minutes at 325 or until firm and set. Cool for 5 minutes, then transfer to wire rack. 

Yield:  2 dozen cookies

Oven Temperature:  325 degrees, preheated

Baking Time:  20 minutes
